Fighting Climate Change

together

“Our world needs climate action on all fronts — everything, everywhere, all at once.”

 ~United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterre

Helping fight climate change can feel like an overwhelming task when you don’t know where to start, and that’s why groups like Upstream Solutions exist. Upstream is a group dedicated to helping us reexamine the common plastic waste found in everyday life, and offers ways to replace them with more sustainable alternatives. To help people who would like to support this shift toward sustainability in their communities, they have created resource toolkits that provide information, links, and sample letters, to help guide their efforts.

Upstream sparks innovative solutions to plastic pollution by helping people, businesses and communities shift from single-use to reuse. They inspire me often, and have provided me with many useful solutions to my plastic waste questions.

On May 19th, we will be attending the Maine Climate Works Summit in Augusta Maine. This summit will feature over 50 presenters who will be there to demonstrate practical steps that businesses can take to reduce carbon and save money, as well as what we as Mainers can do together to keep our state clean. If you are a Maine business owner, you are more than welcome to join us at the summit. Climate change is affecting every part of Maine today. Tomorrow, it may become the most disruptive change to Maine's economy since industrialization.

The Guide to Sustainable, Zero-Waste, Ethical Weddings

Our friends at 77 Diamonds have written a very thorough guide to sustainable weddings.

"A wedding should be one of the happiest days of a couple’s lives. The event brings friends and family together in a celebration of love. Drinks flow, food is devoured and, hopefully, everyone goes home having had a great time.

In all the excitement, it’s easy to overlook the impact a wedding might have on the environment. Sustainability is being spoken about more now than ever. Luckily, if this is something you want to take into account on your wedding day, you can."
